Amalia Em Viana

We’ve had the pleasure of dining at Amalia’s 3 times in the last two weeks. The food was absolutely delicious, the ambience elegant and everyone there was warm and welcoming with great energy. The tone is set with Fado music in the background. And we had an opportunity to hear a live fado performance with a great group and an enthusiastic and responsive audience, who sang along with many of the songs. It was a night we’ll always remember. An absolutely lovely atmosphere with beautiful decor, tasty food , friendly service and the fabulous Sara Sousa, the Fado singer as the star of the show. This is a unique and wonderful way to get to know more of Portugal and its traditional music. I highly recommend it.

Nice little place with a calm atmosphere and very friendly staff. One of our company has a whole list of allergies and she received very good advice on what to pick, and one of the cooks even came by the table to double-check the ingredients. The open window to the kitchen is a testament to the open and hobest atmosphere.As a starter we had cauliflower in tempura with a great sweet chili sauce.The Naco steak I had was amazing and well worth the price tag. Perfectly seasoned and cooked.Definitely recommend going down the side streets to find this place.

We (2 of us) are vegan and took a small table on the patio accompanied by our small dog. We ordered a few small plates and they were delicious. Our server helped us choose items that were vegan. We enjoyed everything so much that we decided to stay for dinner which would start serving in about an hour. They invited us to move inside into the beautiful dining room for dinner and explained that they were dog friendly. we ordered a beautiful summer salad and garlic mushrooms and an additional side plate of vegetables and we each had an additional drink. The service was outstanding. The food was terrific and the ambience was top rate. We are here for a few days and we plan to go back every day that we’re here, highly recommended.

We truly enjoyed our dinner at the Amalia restaurant! Everything was great! The food was delicios, outstanding service and we listened some good live music! They have the best backlava that we ate in the area! Perfect evening before our departure back home. Highly recommend this place!

Truly wonderful evening for the Fado night. Food was excellent and service was on point throughout the night. The music was beautiful - the singer has a fantastic voice that filled the room. Can't wait to return.

Deeply satisfied with every dish. The hummus with focaccia was dense and flavorful; the patatas bravas, though pricey, were prepared in a way that elevated the flavor and texture above what we get elsewhere; same with the sauteed vegetables. Finally, the burger was fantastic -- I was skeptical due to the bun essentially being an English muffin but it worked, and the meat, runny egg, and bacon all came together nicely.

I don’t write many reviews; but when I do……..Okay, I was so taken with this restaurant. Wine selection - excellent. I used to own a wine bar, so I was very impressed with the selection and the knowledge of the waiter in respect of the wines.The food was superb and very reasonably priced.We opted to eat inside because the space is stunning. It’s unlike any other restaurant space I have eaten in anywhere in Portugal. We sat there and I began planning our next visits in the winter.This was a highlight of our trip and one that I will remember fondly when I am back home.Colm
